Post Menopausal: 0.0-0.73 ng/mL The presence of DHEA-S (a metabolite of DHEA, a steroid hormone that may be used as part of in vitro fertilizations (IVF) protocols to improved ovarian response and IVF treatment outcomes) causes falsely elevated progesterone results on our Chemistry platform. Progesterone levels may be up to 2 times the actual value when at the lower end of the normal range and at the higher end of the normal range you may see a decrease in values when the patient is taking DHEA-S.
