Collection Requirements

Distal: 2 inch piece, including tip, of the cannula.

Proximal: 2 inches of the cannula distal to the insertion site should be cut and discarded. The next 2 inch section should be submitted as the proximal specimen.

Submit in separate containers labeled “distal” and “proximal”.

Submit to lab within 2 hours of collection.

Tip should be <2 inches long.

Must Indicate source.

Test should be ordered for each specimen.

Only one specimen required.
