Note: Medications that may interfere with metanephrine include amphetamines and amphetamine-like compounds, appetite suppressants, bromocriptine, buspirone, caffeine, carbidopa-levopa (Sinemet), clonidine, dexamethasone, diuretics (in doses sufficient to deplete sodium), methyldopa (aldomet), MAO inhibitors, nose drops, propafenone (Rythmol), tricyclic antidepressants, and vasodilators.
