Collection Requirements

DELIVER TO LAB ASAP ON ICE.

Primary Collection Container

CSF Collection Kit

Transport

CSF frozen

Preferred Transport Temperature

Frozen

Processing

Specimen must be received within 15 minutes of draw time and immediately separated from cells.

Client Processing: Chill specimen on Ice. Specimen must be spun and seperated from cells within 15 min.

Stability

Ambient: 15 minutes

Refrigerated: 15 minutes

If delay is to longer than 2 hours specimen must be frozen.

Minimum Testing Volume

0.2 mL

Reference Range

<3.0 mmol/L

Methodology

Rabbit muscle lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) catalyzes the oxidation of L-lactate to pyruvate with simultaneous reduction of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). One mole of NAD is converted to one mole of NADH for each mole (equivalent) of lactate present. The absorbance due to NADH is directly proportional to the lactate concentration and is measured using a two-filter (340 – 383 nm) end point technique. Siemens Dimension Vista.

Performed

Sunday – Saturday

Reported

As completed
