Preferred Transport Temperature

Ambient

Processing

Deliver to lab ASAP.

Centrifuge and separate from cells within 2 hours.

Ambient: 24 hours

Refrigerated or Frozen specimens are not recommended.

Minimum Testing Volume

0.1 mL

Reference Range

No reference ranges have been established.

Methodology

The LDI method uses as a substrate L-lactate buffered at a pH of 9.4. Lactate dehydrogenase oxidizes the substrate in the presence of NAD+ to yield pyruvate and NADH which absorbs light at 340 nm. Lactate dehydrogenase activity is measured as a rate reaction at 340/700 nm, proportional to the amount of lactate dehydrogenase in the sample. Siemens Dimension Vista.

Performed

Sunday – Saturday

Reported

As completed

CPT Codes

Unacceptable Conditions

Hemolysis.

Prolonged contact of the body fluid with separated red cells.
