Collection Requirements
Remove crust or dome from lesion. Scrape base of ulceration with a curette. Deposit material on a slide with patient identifier (in pencil) written on end of slide. Invert another slide on top and make a pull smear (2 slides total). Allow to air-dry. Ship in sturdy container or slide folder with proper identifier and requistion (see below).
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
All cytology specimens submitted for testing should have the following information included on the requisition. Containers must be clearly labeled with patient identifier. Specimens accepted only from physician’s or designee.
