Collection Requirements
Collect stool specimen in clean container, or small amount of sample on a tongue blade. Approximately 1 tablespoon of stool is sufficient for testing.
If possible obtain stool specimen during the acute phase.

Unacceptable Conditions
Meconium stools are unacceptable.
Samples should be free of preservatives, metal ions, or detergents.
Samples 8 days or more after the onset may not produce a positive reaction.
Do not transport specimen in orange Meridian Par-Pak transport vial.
