Processing

Specimen must be received in the laboratory and test performed within 24 hours of collection.

Avoid exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Optimal testing of ESR is within 4 hours of collection.

Testing will be performed on specimens up to 23 hours old if refrigerated. If Refrigerated, the specimen must sit for 15 minutes at Room Temperature before testing. The behavior of specimens tested for ESR over time is variable in an unpredictable fashion.
