Methodology

The salicylate method is a modification of the Trinder colorimetric technique. Under acidic conditions, ferric nitrate forms a colored complex with salicylate. The amount of salicylate-ferric complex formed is proportional to the salicylate concentration and is measured using a two filter (510, 700 nm) endpoint with sample-reagent blanking technique.
