Collection Requirements

ABG’s performed by the Respiratory Therapy Department will be performed in the Center for the Heart Non-Invasive Testing area. Patients will need to check in/register at the Center for the Heart desk, from there a member of the Respiratory Therapy department will take them to the draw room and complete the lab collection.

Respiratory Therapist perform arterial puncture, or collection from arterial line by RN or RT. Collect specimen in 3 mL heparinized ABG syringe.
